Jennifer Lohmus
Jennifer graduated from La Trobe University in 2018 and has extensive ice and snow physiotherapy experience. She is the current Team Physiotherapist for the National U18 Ice Hockey and Victorian Women’s Ice Hockey. She is also Head Physiotherapist for the Melbourne Mustangs Men’s Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) team and a Physiotherapist in the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia Sports Medicine Network.
Jennifer is very familiar with figure skating as she grew up training in Toronto, Canada. She worked at the Melbourne Figure Skating Club Crystal Challenge in 2023 and is looking forward to more involvement in figure skating competitions this year. She also grew up competitively dancing for 18 years and is familiar with 15 different styles. She can provide patients with rehabilitation exercises that facilitate flow, control, carriage, and rhythm on or off ice.
Jennifer is passionate about optimising the management of athletes at all levels - from recreational to semi-professional. She can help an athlete at any stage in their journey to improve fitness or performance level. She can also facilitate a regular gym-goer establishing a higher quality programming structure for meaningful results in physical fitness. She does so by strategically choosing the optimal treatment combination of strengthening and conditioning, advice for injury prevention and recovery, manual therapy and/or dry needling.
Jennifer works closely with local shoulder, knee, hip, and elbow orthopaedic surgeons. She is extremely competent in managing post-surgical acute sports injuries and orthopaedic injuries. Jennifer has an interest in joint replacements due to arthritis and has completed the Good Living Osteoarthritis Denmark (GLA:D) training for hip and knee arthritis.
Outside of work Jennifer is an outdoor sports enthusiast. She recently completed the 100km Oxfam Trail Walker and loves to talk about bushwalking, backcountry skiing, rock climbing, cycling, and paddling.
