Michael Ilett

Michael graduated from the Macquarie Universities Doctor of Physiotherapy program in 2021 and is now undertaking further study to become a titled Sport & Exercise Physiotherapist, studying a Master of Sports Physiotherapy at La Trobe University.

Michael gained valuable clinic and sports experience working up in Sydney. This included roles with Sydney FC, Football Australia in the Future Matilda’s program, NPL1 teams and in high level gymnastics with Gymnastics NSW (both club and National settings).

With this experience, Michael has developed a deeper understanding of hypermobility with particular interest in the shoulder, lower back and hips. He is also experienced in vestibular and post-concussion rehabilitation completing this work with AFL, rugby league and gymnastics athletes.

Having previously played tennis internationally (competing on the futures tour), Michael also understands injuries in tennis and the demands of professional sport.

Michael welcomes patients from all walks of life with a variety of conditions, ranging from acute injury to managing more complex pain presentations. He enjoys taking a holistic, individualised approach to management and uses a combination of hands-on manual therapies with rehabilitation-based exercises to get the best results. Michael has published research with Deakin University on the effects of blood flow restriction training during exercises and can use this as part of a rehabilitation program. Where suitable, he can also integrate dry needling into his treatment sessions.

Outside of work, Michael is both an avid golfer and tennis player and enjoys a love/hate relationship with both sports.
