Sonya is a senior Clinical Physiotherapist at Alphington Sports Medicine, an ASCA Level 1 Strength & Conditioning Coach and leads the postgraduate Sports Medicine programs at the University of Melbourne. She balances this with keeping herself and her family (including 4 children) happy, healthy and active. Sonya has worked extensively in performance sport in Australia and internationally including: 2018 Commonwealth Games, 2006 Commonwealth Games, 2000 Paralympic Games, Victorian Institute of Sport, Netball Victoria, English Institute of Sport, Team GB and Team Bath (UK).
Sonya has special interests in supporting the development of junior athletes and supporting high performance athletes, including assisting athletes of all sports, all ages and abilities, to participate injury free to the best of their capabilities. Having competed to international level in netball, she is well versed in this.
She has completed a Doctorate in Health (D.Health) at the University of Bath comprising three substantial research projects: International Federation of Sports Physiotherapy (IFSP) Competencies & Standards, water immersion in athlete recovery and EMG functional wavelet analysis.
Postgraduate Qualifications: Doctorate in Health (D.Health), Certificate in Teaching & Learning (Harvard University), Diploma of Counselling.
