Dr Carlee Van Dyk is a Consultant Sport & Exercise Physician with wide-ranging experience across multiple sports, and a strong interest in supporting women in high-performance environments. She currently works as Chief Medical Officer at Water Polo Australia and as a team doctor with the Matildas, Australia’s national women’s football (soccer) team.
Carlee has previously held medical roles with several elite women’s teams, including the Australian Diamonds, the Collingwood Magpies and Melbourne Mavericks netball teams, as well as with Collingwood FC’s AFLW program. Her work has given her valuable insight into the demands of elite-level women’s sport and the importance of tailored, athlete-focused care.
She also brings experience from other sporting codes, including rowing, where she has toured with Australia’s U23 national team and continues to be a preferred provider for Rowing Australia. In football (soccer), she served as Team Physician for Western United FC during the 2023/24 A-League Women’s season. In late 2024, she became the first female medical staff member to work within the Football Australia Men’s National Teams network, travelling with the Olyroos (U23 Men’s team) to Vanuatu.
Outside of her team roles, Carlee was the Chief Medical Officer for the Australian Youth Winter Olympic Team in 2020 and has completed wilderness medicine training in Chamonix, France.
Alongside her work in elite sport, Carlee enjoys caring for recreational athletes and active individuals of all backgrounds. She takes a collaborative, down-to-earth approach to patient care, aiming to help people stay active and achieve their goals—whatever their level or sport.
