A highly experienced Sports Physiotherapist with a passion for basketball, Steve Evans was one of the founders of Alphington Sports Medicine Clinic. He sadly passed away last year after a long and courageous battle with his health.
Alphington Sports Medicine Physio Madeleine Ellis has just returned from Europe where she got the sweet taste of success in the form of World Championship gold with the Sapphires, Australia’s U17 girls basketball team.
The Australian Men’s Indoor Volleyball Team, The Volleyroos, are currently competing in the Olympic Qualification tournament in Tokyo.
And they are in good hands with talented Melbourne Physiotherapist Darren Austin.
On Tuesday 8 March 2016 we presented an Educational Workshop in conjunction with Direct Radiology as a breakfast session.
The topic was Gluteal Tendinopathy – Implications for Assessment & Management, with local GPs and staff in attendance.
From the 26th of June to the 18th July I spent 3 fortunate weeks at the Australian Institute of Sport European Training Centre, Gavirate Italy. My role was to tend to the health needs of all Australian athletes currently training and competing in Europe.

In early July, I was fortunate enough to work on the Medical Team for the Aussieroos at the World Summer Universiade Games.
As the team Physiotherapist, I recently travelled to the Gold Coast with the Victorian Calisthenics teams competing in their Nationals.
This year I became the Physio and Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Men’s Volleyroos- the Australian Indoor Volleyball Team. As the team competes to earn an Olympic Qualifying Spot in Rio, I was lucky enough to follow them on this exciting journey.

Recently, I travelled to China with the Gems, (the U/19 Australian Women’s national basketball team). It was a four nation tour, competing against China, Brazil and the USA. Over two weeks we played in three different cities.
Over the weekend of 20th-21st October, Alphington Sports Medicine Clinic was proud to host Wayne Rodgers to present his unique look at strength & conditioning exercise principles and techniques.
