We are writing to let you know about a recent cyber security incident that affected our clinical systems.
In early March we identified unauthorised encryption activity within our network. As soon as this was detected, we immediately isolated affected systems and moved to manual operations to contain the incident and protect our environment.
Our investigation indicates that the incident primarily involved the encryption of systems rather than widespread data theft. Based on what we know so far, we do not believe there has been any significant compromise of patient information. However, given the nature of cyber incidents of this kind, we cannot provide an absolute assurance that no patient information was accessed or exposed.
For this reason, we ask all patients to remain cautious. Please be alert to any unexpected emails, phone calls, text messages or other communications claiming to be from Alphington Sports Medicine or associated clinics. Do not click on links, open attachments, or provide personal information unless you are confident the communication is legitimate. If you are unsure, please phone us on 9481 5744.
Since the incident was discovered, our IT team has been working to restore systems securely, from verified backups, and strengthen our environment. All our major operational systems are now back up and running.
We sincerely apologise for the disruption this has caused and thank you for your patience and understanding.
Please be assured that protecting your information and ensuring continuity of care remain our highest priorities.
